  Has anyone heard of the elders being called independent agents. Spoke to a brother in the Legal department and he called them that.

  just wondering if anyone has ever heard of elders being referred to as independent agents before.

  i called the legal department and spoke to an older brother about the child molesters in my hall about a month ago.

  he did not want to speak to me because i am just a stupid sister but he did finally agree and that was one point he made.

  This brings to memory the DocBob's letter and, in my opinion, the efficacy of using their own legal arrangement against them.

  To recap, in the letter, it is clearly defined that any action and a result thereof (in a JC setting in that instance), if taken on behalf of the local congregation, remains a local matter. If any other higher entity is involved (like Mother), the action becomes on behalf of that entity. That apparently doesn't sit well with the Borg and from what members have reported, resulted in no action...

  Independent or not, they are "selling" the franchisor's merchandise (in true recovery spirit - proudly made in the USA )

  however, i can't deny that people are more open today about being closed towards religious interference in their lives.

  i don't pretend to understand what motivates my husband when it comes to his family.

  he's completely fine ignoring, even hating mine, but his he's wishy washy.

  My favorite part is the simultaneous belief and disbelief in evolution, with belief running 16,000 times greater than disbelief.

  From a pure mathematical standpoint, the factor that is 16,000 times greater than the opposing factor, would completely obliterate said opposing factor, yet the JWs are putting priorities in the (surprise) reverse order.

  Or in plain language: back asswords...like everything else they are involved with...

  As far as what effects Communism had on people, I can 100% identify with your experiences and observations... I am 40 now and grew up just south of the border from you ...yet, I am still fuming at the thought of people voluntarily putting themselves in the hell they were just freed from...

  Felt really sorry when I read the story, at the same time happy for you that you see some kind of closure and have the strength to move on.
